  Happy Thanksgiving From beforethedarktimes.com

We wish all of our readers the best on this special day.  We here at BTDT
consider this day even better than Christmas or any other holiday , since it is
simply meant to give thanks, and spend the time with those whom you love
  and appreciate most.

At a time when crime is peaking, divorce is dominating, and the World seems
to be a little darker than in years past, Thanksgiving is a time to really
appreciate what and who we have in our lives.  So let the kids get a little
wild today, let your parents do whatever it is that drives you the craziest,
and fill your plate with all that everyone has taken the time to cook.
You'll look back one day, when all of these folks have passed on, and be glad
  that you did.

  Happy Thanksgiving to all...

  BTDT Flashback: Atari Top-Scorer Patches

Were you one of the many kids out there who had the opportunity to receive
a patch or sticker from one of the big game vendors back in the days of Atari,
for hitting a mega-high score on a game, or simply for taking out more aliens
than anyone else in your quadrant?

Well, BTDT reader JasonFromBrooklyn was one of those such game players,
and has the patch to prove it!  The image above is just one example of the
many incentives provided by Activision and other game vendors to keep those
kids playin'!  Click on the image to see the full-size scan.

Also, be sure to check back for more updates on this topic, as
JasonFromBrooklyn is a fellow paper collector like some of the crew here at

pay homage to Bill Delancey of Wilmington, Delaware.   Bill was the owner of the
Mill Creek Barber Shop, located at the intersection of routes 2 and 7 in
Wilmington, Delaware.  He'd owned the shop since 1981.

Bill was originally from Elkton, Maryland, the homeland of beforethedarktimes.com.
He was one of 5 children, and his family name is forever known by locals, as
Delancey Road of Elkton is named after his grandfather.

He was a lifelong fan of horse racing, and spent much of his leisure time
at Delaware Park.  Something that alot of people didn't know about Bill was
that he was also a prior Corvette owner and enthusiast. Staff of BTDT remember
him as always being friendly to anyone who visited his shop, always eager
to be involved in conversations, and was always an all-around great guy.

On the night of October 30th, Bill fell victim to a heart attack- the day before
his 63rd birthday.  His full obituary is available here. He will be sorely missed by
  many..

"There's a beautiful EARTH out tonight...."

Bugs Bunny said it best, in the episode with him and Marvin Martian- and
after looking at these HD pics from the Japanese Moon Orbiter, Bugs is right!

"The Force Is STRONG With This One..."

Back in the days of the 80s, a kid could walk into any arcade with one quarter
in their hand, and have the opportunity to join the Rebel fleet in its mission to
  destroy the dreaded Death Star..

Having that privilege as a child really has an impact on some kids- such an
impact that they go as far as to relive the experience by buying and restoring
the game that provided them with the honor to begin with.  One such individual
who has lived that dream and fulfilled it is our newest Forum member,
  that80sguy..

Click here to read about his dream of one day owning the arcade game that
enabled him to feel the TRUE nature of the Force...  And congratulations to
  you, 80sguy!
