'Arcade Games' Arcade- Hersheypark, 7/20/07

The arcade at Hersheypark is chock-full of nostalgia arcadia (sounds like Latin)… There are actually 2 arcades within the park, but the one worth reviewing is the one that’s closer to the “Super Dooper Looper”, the 'Arcade Games' area, shown below.  If you're a bonafide classic game freak, spare yourself from going to the 'Arcade Dome'.

Arcade Games included:

Berzerk
Discs Of TRON
Millipede
Mr Do
Ms Pac Man
Pole Position
Q*Bert's Cubes

(see pics for others)

Pins:

Comet

Being a Sorcerer pin owner, I loved playing this game- it comes from the same timeframe as Sorcerer, therefore it shares some of the same sound effects and “bling” as the game I have at home. Comet's definitely a cool one to play.

Cyclone

HERCULES
(Atari 1979)

This was a strange game to play- it was cool to check out because its size dominated the others in the lineup, but if you’re looking for a quick-reaction pin, just keep walking by this one.. the size of the “pinball” (which looks more like a cue ball) was enormous, and seemed a little heavy for the game to be able to kick up into the higher playfield area- The flippers you can see are actually made of WOOD rather than plastic, and don’t seem to give much response when coming in contact with the ball.

As shown in the photos, the game actually sported a sign on top, indicating that the game was recognized by Ripley’s Believe It Or Not for being the biggest pinball machine ever produced.. I have not yet been able to confirm this aside from the details of the sign, but just going off of the size of the pin compared to those next to it, I have a feeling that might be an accurate statement..

High Speed

Party Animal

This was my first time playing this pin and I LOVED it! It really has some great comic relief encapsulated within, like the frog that goes “RIBBIT” every time you hit it, and the” flush” you hear when the ball passes the flippers.

Raven

Secret Service

The walls were also lined with Skee Ball machines and some other great nostalgia. If you get to Hersheypark at all this Summer, be sure to take 5 minutes to check out the Arcade Park!
